Healthcare in India is plagued by the “Iron Triangle” of Access, Cost and Quality. Apart from access, one of the other major concerns, therefore, is affordability. Covid-19 has further highlighted the gaps in the system and the chasm between the urban and rural centers.

In such a scenario, Digital health technology emerges as a pivotal point in delivering value based care across the healthcare continuum in India. Adaptive intelligent solutions can help lower the barriers between hospitals and patients, improving access to care and enhancing overall patient satisfaction, particularly in tier II and III cities in India. New health technologies such as wearable tech, telemedicine, genomics, virtual reality (VR), robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) are changing the landscape of the Indian healthcare system.

At Menterra we believe that access to good healthcare not only improves the quality of life but also helps the underprivileged avoid the vicious debt and poverty cycle. To support this mission, Menterra’s investments are focused on increasing access to affordable healthcare, improving quality and better health outcomes for underserved communities and women and girls, while addressing the changing disease burden and emerging global health priorities. 20 million+ patients have received access to high-quality, affordable healthcare with the investments already made.

With this belief and investment philosophy, Menterra has announced a call for applications for the inaugural Menterra Impact Challenge – Healthcare 1, for early-stage businesses and start ups in the digital healthcare space.

Access to quality healthcare remains within the hands of a select few. To bridge this growing gap, we drive change through:

Menterra Impact Challenge – Healthcare 1 is a 3 month, nation-wide challenge launched in collaboration with incubators and Indian companies to look for ideas that will strengthen the system, evolve new ideas and in the process, transform the healthcare ecosystem in India.

Through this challenge, we are looking to identify and invest in the most innovative and disruptive ideas in the digital health space including businesses using futuristic technologies such as AI, ML, Robotics, VR, AR, Big Data, Remote Monitoring etc.

These technologies are expected to predict, prevent and deliver affordable care in underserved settings for major health priorities of the country e.g., non-communicable diseases, chronic care (cancer, diabetes, cardiac care, pulmonology) etc.
